Go to www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk and book two singles, both at £7.50, total £15.00 return from London Paddington, or a very cost effective Southend fare from £10, total £20 return. (Taking advantage of various railcards or Group Save will bring it all down even further!)

Four services an hour out of London Paddington still available for the one hour journey. To get there before 13.00 though sees the fares go up to £13.50 but after that is still good for a few beers.

Check the train company website for those Southend to Swindon services, changing for tube, recommend West Ham or Stratford but check for engineering works nearer the time.

Station to Stadium

The ground is walkable from Swindon train station and will take you around 10-15 minutes.

Leave the station, cross the road and proceed up the road between the two pubs (Great Western and Queen's Tap), continue to end of road. Turn left, proceed along Manchester Road, through traffic lights as far as you can go. At the junction turn right.

The County Ground is about 300 yards up this road on the left.

Remember, it's in a Group Save area that can cut fares in half if four of you can travel together, and any various travelcards will make it even cheaper.

N.B. Readers are reminded that the fixture list is still provisional and subject to change. Clubs have seven days to request any changes to the Football League. (I'm sure Southend will be looking at the odd Friday night and before you rush in for those early train fares, remember the Bradford City away change last season! You pays your money ect.)
