The words

£30 return (2 x £15 singles) from any Southend station to Plymouth is excellent, and you can leave Southend Victoria from as late as 8.10!

And for you London exiles you can also get 2 x £13 singles from London Paddington, so £26 return here is still a decent fare.

Sad though about the loss of the South-West trains service, got there for a tenner return a couple of times.

One warning, I wouldn't book the 16.57 back unless your very fit, but the 17.54 would be good for a leisurely walk back to the station, with maybe time for a quick pint to celebrate three points!

Go to www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk for all services and to book tickets.

There is one way to cut costs if four of you plan to go, EXETER is in the group save area and at £12 single from Southend or London and £8.30 return Exeter - Plymouth, this would get it down to £19.30 each, a further 26-36% saving depending on where you get on!

As ever any railcards will save you even more, so this could prove a very cost effective form of travel to Luggy's old club!

CALL 08457 000 125 for cutomer services to ask about the group save method, and hopefully book tickets, just make sure you make the right connections!

Station to Stadium

Plymouth railway station is about one and a half miles away, so either grab a cab (from £3 upwards) or embark on the 20 minute walk.

As you come out of the station turn right and down the hill and under the railway bridge. Just keep walking straight along this road and you will eventually reach the ground on your right.

Alternatively then Andrew Chapan on www.footballfroundguide.com (who we thank for the directions above), suggests a more picturesque route: 'Finally I would recommend turning right into Ford Park Road, at the closed Pennycomequick pub/roundabout just downhill from the station and then take the 2nd left into Holdsworth Street, which will lead you up a steep hill into Central Park, where you'll see the ground as soon as you reach the top of the hill. It is a lot nicer route than following the roads - after all (apart from Aldershot) there are no other league clubs situated in a public park!'
