Time to play against another ex-head farmer in Aidy Boothroyd and his Cobblers, and there's some decent fares to be had if you get in early, from £12 return, (2 x £6 singles), starting at London Euston, less with group save and railcards!

Go to www.londonmidland.com/ for all the services and fares on offer.

UPDATE - £3.50 singles on offer!: www.email-image.net/LondonMidland/1202/jansale/lm_online.html!

From Southend stations: £48.30 return; so a travelcard and the singles offer the best value.

Examples

London Euston 11.13 - Northampton 12.12 - £6.00
London Euston 12.13 - Northampton 13.12 - £6.00
London Euston 12.54 - Northampton 14.05 - £6.00

Northampton 17.50 - London Euston 18.49 - £6.00
Northampton 18.05 - London Euston 19.17 - £6.00
Northampton 18.50 - London Euston 19.49 - £6.00

There is a 17.25 but I wouldn't take the risk, lots of traffic after the game; unless you're a good runner of course!

Virgin Trains will also get you to Northamptonshire but at the moment they are only offering day returns at £24.50, that may change but we doubt it.

Remember, it's in a Group Save area that can cut fares in half if four of you can travel together, and any various travelcards will make it even cheaper.

Station to Stadium

Northampton train station is over two miles from the ground, so you may wish to catch a bus or hire a taxi, a selection of Northampton taxi companies can be found here.

From the railway station it is possible to get a bus to take you most of the way to Sixfields stadium. The buses go from the bridge over the railway at the south end of the station.

Services Nos. 22 and 27 are a couple of the more regular services that go past the edge of the leisure complex, about half a mile from the ground. The service that actually goes past the stadium itself is the No. 50, but it's very infrequent, with only one bus suitable for attending the match, leaving Greyfriars Bus Station at 13.22, calling at the Railway Station, and arriving at the stadium (Edgar Mobbs Way) at 13.32. The return picks up from Edgar Mobbs Way at 17.27.

However, if you feel like braving the 25-30 minute walk; turn right from the station and follow the road past the express lift tower (you can't miss it, a tall tower that was once used for testing lifts), passing the Wickes store on the left. Continue down to the Leisure Centre, turn left down the path beside it and then turn right onto the road. You will see the stadium in the distance in front of you. I have done it, it's not too bad, just get your beer in before hand.

Station to Stadium: Turn right from the blue blob up the A45, (or A4500 on Google), St. James Rd. then Weedon Road on to the Sixfields.

The town centre and some decent drinking if you go left from the station, see the Pub Crawl posted nearer the game, but don't leave it long after 14.00 to make your way to the ground.
