Accrington Stanley

It's a tough enough place to get to anyway, and ceretainly not the cheapest, so not allowing us any cheap fares with only eight and a bit weeks was a bit of a kick in the teeth.

So this might be one for the supporters club coaches unless you want to stay in a b&b, (see below), a weekend in Accrington, we wish you well!

An advance return will cost £74.80, in fact you can probably stay for a week at that price if you want to, and you don't; but overnight's not too bad, check some prices out here:

If you insist on giving it a go, try www.eastcoast.co.uk for all services including Virgin but if there's 3 to 9 of you there's a THIRD off the fare!

The trip takes just over three hours and usually there's a change at Preston.

Maybe I've missed something but it does my head in trying to work out the connections, sometimes you can pick up a fiver fare to Birmingham and then work something out from there, or an odd cheapy to Manchester, but getting back is still tough, even on A Saturday afternoon, and those Birmingham fares have mostly been snapped up as the train goes on to Edinburgh for the festival.

The website awaits, good luck!

Station to Stadium

Accrington station is about a mile away from the ground.

Leave the station and travel down the slope towards the large viaduct roundabout in the centre of town. Take the Milnshaw Lane exit at the opposite side of the roundabout alongside the Perry's Peugeot dealership.

After approximately 100 metres this road then joins Whalley Road. Bear left up the hill and follow Whalley Road for about a mile, passing the hospital, a set of traffic lights and then a mini roundabout. Take the next right after the mini roundabout junction into Livingstone Road.

The football club is approximately 100 metres on the left on Livingstone Road.
