Wolves, Foxes & Canaries swoop on young Shrimpers for annual summer tourney!

It's going to be colourful, as well as interesting, when over the weekend of July 23rd and 24th, Ricky Duncan's Southend United Under-18 side will face the Premiership and Championship academy youth teams of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and with their seniors just promoted to the top tier, Norwich City.

It's been known as the Toomey Cup in the past with Everton and West Ham as previous winners as the young Shrimpers have even matched and beaten the mighty Arsenal Under-18's.

Now known as the, er, Youth Cup, I think Uncle Ron would appreciate a sponsor, the tournament will take the usual format of two semi-finals on the Saturday, with a third & fourth placed play-off followed by the final on the Sunday.

The club will announce ticket prices nearer the time but it's always a great value with plenty of decent footy played.

There has been a lack of youth team reports lately, in fact the last three games, which we will be catching up with this week. Apologies.
