The Kids are Alright

After a week of mixed emotions for Blues fans some joy was found reading the Echo and hearing about the ambitions of the Blues Youth boss and the faith he has in the present squad of players after a confident start to the pre-season which included a week in Denmark.

"The kids want to try and get into the top three in the league and do well in the F.A. Youth Cup again, the goal is to reach the third round at least, and we also want to do better in the Alliance Cup again. That's the target they have set themselves, but my own one is to get one of the boys into the first team squad."

The team will be remembered for their exciting record breaking run to the fifth round of the Youth Cup last season where they sadly lost to Carlisle.
Left back Johnny Herd and midfielder Stuart O'Keefe have taken full parts in the first eleven pre-season while Charles Ademeno and Peggy Lokando are on the verge of breaking through as they look for clubs to go out on loan to. Of course the success of the Moose in becoming a first team fixture is a target they can all aim for.

Duncan continued: "It's what it's all about, Franck (Moussa) now looks like making himself a regular in the team. Johnny has had a few games and Charles has forced his way back in around the first team. I always new he would need time and that's why we gave him the two years. But the most pleasing one is Stuart. He's an ambitious young kid and he's got a lot to offer.
Ten new players have been added to the squad and Ricky has changed the system to reflect the strength of the new intake.

"We've changed to a 4-5-1 system and that's purely because we've got a lot of talanted midfielders at the moment and we thought it would be best to get as many of them on the pitch as we can. They've settled in well and we have a lot of pace in the team now. We have a good crop of young players here."

TLG wishes them the best for the 2008/09 season and will be posting all the youth team scores and reports.
