Southend have given permission for Congolese midfielder Medi Abalimba, only 17 next week, to turn out for Premier League Liverpool second team in the Barclays Premier Reserve League.

Rightly proud of yet another successful product of the Blues youth system Ricky Duncan spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk; "Liverpool are having another look at Medi after last season to see how he improved. It is a good experience for him and it highlights some of the players that we are strating to produce when sides like Liverpool are interested."

Medi even spent five days at Manchester United's Carrington Road training ground in October 2007.

Tilly and Duncan will be watching the player this evening for the 19.00 kick off, for whom it must seem a long way away from turning out for Sunday League side Hadleigh Wood.
