Well, he scored. Foran that is, in the third minute, his first game back in a Blue shirt after his injury. Good work by the Prince as well created the chance.

"Well bloody Harold couldn't score from three yards!"

A number of lads were given their chance over the game which was against a strong Bishops Stortford side who have been in the Blue Square Conference South play-offs for the last two seasons.

As it was the home side had a two goal lead by the half hour mark. They equalised in the tenth minute, scored a penalty in the 15th and on the 26th a product of our own youth system, Craig Edwards, smashed home a third.

In between Matty did smash the crossbar from three yards out after a corner!

There were many changes, team details after the link, including Richie returning to the field of play after being subbed at half-time, but for a more detailed report click below:

Southend United XI: Clark Masters, Ricky Byrne (Gordon Rieck 77), Ade Osifuwa, Callum Stewart (Callum Whittaker H-T), Johnny Herd, Jamie Dennis (Richie Foran, (back on), 77), Davis Abbey (Rhys Henry H-T), Medi Abalimba (Merrick James-Lewis), Richie Foran (James Lindie H-T), Matt Harrold, Charles Ademeno (Jamie Dennis 83).

Breaking news from the official site is that 18 year-old midfielder Peggy Lokando is to get a game for Oxford in a pre-season friendly with a Man.Utd XI. He has had one full game for the Blues in the Carling Cup victory against Watford.

Assistant manager Paul Brush said; "Peggy will play for Oxford on Saturday against Manchester United so they can take a look. We want him to get to a club so he can play games and it will be a good level for him to start at. If Oxford like what they see then we will see if we can come to an arrangement with regards to loaning him out".

Good luck Peggy on Saturday this could be the step up he needs for himself and the club.
