Silkmen boss praises Cheltenham having 'a fantastic work ethic'

Simpson: Praised Robins

Simpson: 'They've got some very good players'

At the beginning of the season the Robins were tipped by many to struggle, but Silkmen boss Gary Simpson believes their lofty position is thoroughly merited as Macclesfield prepare to host a side locked to 52 points with Southend United and Crawley Town at League Two's summit.

Simpson said: "They're a good team who've made some good signings and they've clicked. They're working extremely hard for each other. I've seen them a couple of times and I've been saying for quite a while now that they're going to do really, really well. It's no surprise having seen them that they're doing well because they've got some very good players and they've got a fantastic work ethic."

The Shrimpers play the creepies on Monday, March 5th at Roots Hall, a game that will be shown live on Sky; the Gloucestershire Robins, also as hosts, on Friday, March 30th; and another home game that will bring the campaign to a close will see the Silkmen visit south-east Essex on Saturday, May 5th, let's hope it's all over by then and we're safely back in the third tier!

But they could do us a favour at the weekend, along with the Bulls of Hereford. (Wouldn't say no to the Cobblers pinching a point at Torquay as well, but maybe that's being greedy!)
