Oldham 4 Cheltenham 0

Controversial striker Lee Hughes fired Oldham to the top of League One with his first hat-trick since December as The Latics cruised past Cheltenham.

Hughes last found the net three times against Millwall eight months ago and had to wait until the 45th minute to get his charge off the ground.

The Robins floodgates soon opened after the break with the former West Brom striker completing his hat-trick after 62 minutes combining with Andy Liddell for the second and Neal Eardley for his third.

Oldham midfielder Danny Whitaker sealed the deal with a stunning 20-yard drive late on as The Latics became the only team to maintain their 100 percent record.

Ex-Captain Kev was used as an 86th minute sub to close the game down, oh dear!

Yeovil 1 Leeds 1

Lloyd Owusu's penalty just past the hour earned Yeovil a 1-1 home draw after conceding an early goal against everybody's favourite Yorkshireman.

The Whites had made a lightning start and Luciano Becchia marked his league debut with a goal just 25 seconds in.

The Argentine was denied the winning goal on his debut as Owusu rifled home after his initial penalty had been saved by Casper Ankergren after Paul Huntington had felled Paul Warne in the box.

Bristol Rovers 6 Hereford 1

Bristol Rovers duo Daryl Duffy and Rickie Lambert both bagged doubles as League One life went from bad to worse for Hereford with a five-goal thumping at the Memorial Stadium.

The Bulls slumped to back-to-back opening defeats against Leyton Orient and Yeovil and got off to the worst possible start when Duffy struck home after just three minutes.

Lambert made matters worse with a 25-yard curler four minutes later, Duffy added a second in the 22nd minute and Jeff Hughes made it four just after the restart.

Former Stockport front-man Lambert netted his second and fourth of the season with a delicate free-kick 12 minutes from time, Chris Lines added a sixth in the 88th minute before Steve Guinan grabbed a late consolation.

Leicester 3 Tranmere 1

Leicester front-man Matt Fryatt underlined Nigel Pearson's early promotion hopes with his second double of the season in an easy win over Tranmere.

The 22-year-old netted twice in the season opener against the MK Dons and was back to his best again at the Walker's Stadium with two second-half strikes.

Steve Howard fired The Foxes in front half way through the first-half before Fryatt headed home a second seven minutes after the break.

Former Barnsley midfielder Chris Shuker fired Tranmere within touching distance in the 80th minute but it was too little to late with Fyratt sealing the three points late on as Leicester moved to second.

Huddersfield 1 MK Dons 3

MK Dons duo Jude Stirling and Peter Leven combined to give Roberto Di Matteo's troops back-to-back league victories against Huddersfield at the Galpharm Stadium.

Former Peterborough defender Stirling connected with Mark Wright's pin-point corner to fire The Dons ahead after 16 minutes before Leven added a second 12 minutes later.

The visitors took their foot of the gas in the second half but still managed to find the net - Sam Baldock bagging his second of the season with a drilled effort from 12 yards.

Gary Roberts tried his best to inspire a late Terriers fight back in the 83rd minute but could do little to stop The Dons building on last weekend's win over Northampton.

Scunthorpe 1 Peterborough 0

Scunthorpe striker Paul Hayes' first-half penalty sent The Irons storming out of the League One bottom four as they recorded their first win of the season against Peterborough.

Hayes wrapped up all three points on the stroke of half-time coolly slotting home after Marcus Williams was brought down by Posh defender Kieran Charnock.

Grant McCann had the hosts best effort prior to Hayes spot kick but failed to test Peterborough keeper Joe Lewis.

Darren Ferguson's troops came out fighting after the break but lacked a cutting edge with Craig Mackail-Smith and Sergio Torres both wasting chances as The Irons held on.

Swindon 1 Colchester 3

Colchester returned to form in style with their first win against Swindon thanks to first-half efforts from John Jackson and Scott Vernon.

The U's were left reeling after recording only one point from their opening two games but were put back on course when Jackson fired home after 32 mintues.

The 26-year-old turned playmaker 13 minutes later to allow Vernon to lash home from close range before Swindon striker Simon Cox rallied a fight-back from the spot after the restart.

Matt Heath's handball allowed Cox to strike his third of the season but it wasn't enough with Sunday-Akanni Wasiu bagging the three points late on.

Leyton Orient 0 Carlisle 0

Carlisle striker Scott Dobie had a day to forget as The Cumbrians surrendered their early top two grip with a barren draw against Leyton Orient.

The 29-year-old summed up the visitors day in the 87th minute when he was dismissed for violent conduct.

Leyton Orient nearly made the most of their man advantage minutes later but stole all three points shortly after but Loick Pires somehow headed Jason Demetriou's cross wide.

Crewe 2 Walsall 1

Crewe duo Anthony Elding and Joel Grant combined to guide The Alex to their first win of the season and out of the League One drop-zone.

Steve Holland's men were languishing in the bottom four after recording only one point from their opening games against Carlisle and Brighton.

However it was all change at Gresty Road with Elding and Grant both firing home from close range to leave Stephen Hughes' 59th minute effort a consolation.

Northampton 0 Millwall 0

Kenny Jackett's Millwall plummeted into the League One drop-zone after being held to a dire goalless draw by Northampton.

It is the second time the Lions have clashed with the Cobblers this season however Millwall failed to exact revenge for the 1-0 Carling Cup defeat 11 days ago.

Millwall striker Gary Alexander had a great chance late on but failed to convert as the Lions racked up four more bookings in search of their first win of the season at Sixfields.

Hartlepool 0 Stockport 1

Stockport winger Tommy Rowe fired The Hatters into the League One top half with a last minute winner against Hartlepool at the Victoria Stadium.

Jim Gannon's men looked certain to be heading to their second successive goalless draw but when rescued when Rowe's left footed strike whistled past Pools keeper Arran Lee-Barrett.

However Stockport had keeper Owain Williams to thank after he pulled off a string of fine saves to deny Hartlepool their second home win of the season.
