Tyrone Barnett struck a brilliant last-minute equaliser to give table-topping Crawley a 1-1 draw at Oxford United.
With time running out, Barnett lashed a left-foot volley into the roof of the net from 12 yards to extend Crawley's unbeaten away run to eight matches.
Crawley were wasteful in the first half, with John Akinde the main culprit. Akinde had three efforts in quick succession, but was denied by the outstretched leg of Oxford goalkeeper Ryan Clarke before twice missing the target.
And Oxford made the visitors pay in the second half when striker Jon-Paul Pittman opened the scoring against his old club just three minutes after coming onto the pitch. Pittman charged down a clearance by goalkeeper Scott Shearer and drilled home a shot from a tight angle.
Alfie Potter went close to a second Oxford goal, Shearer getting down to stop his scuffed shot, and four minutes from time James Constable's 18-yard shot was superbly turned aside by the keeper.
But no-one could argue with Barnett's stunning equaliser.
Evans: Rues missed opportunity
So how did our favourite manager ake the loss of two points?
Well, they should have won of course!
Steve Evans felt a point was the least Crawley deserved after Tyrone Barnett's last-minute strike earned a 1-1 draw at Oxford.
Evans said: "Overall I thought we deserved three points, not just one. I think we were by far the better team on the day. Despite the late goal, it was two points that slipped away so far as I'm concerned. We created much the better chances but some of the defending on the Oxford side was heroic. We put in a real good performance and we've had all the play. We should have been a couple up and cruising. It was just a goalkeeping error which gave Oxford their goal, and they happen in the Premiership, as Sir Alex Ferguson knows. I spoke to the players all week about not making mistakes because they could be costly, and this one has been for us."
Crikey, it's amazing that they've dropped the 17 points they're so good; I'm sure Alex would agree Steve.
