Di Canio: Charged with misconduct

Di Canio: Charged with misconduct

The Robins temperamental Italian boss Paolo Di Canio can get a little excitable at times, which he certainly did when ex-Shrimper Alan McCormack grabbed a late winner in the 2-1 victory at Northampton on New Year's Eve.

He ran on the pitch to celebrate and was sent to the stands for his troubles!

A statement on the FA website read: "Swindon Town manager Paolo di Canio has been charged for improper conduct in relation to his side's match at Northampton Town on 31 December 2011. Di Canio has until 4pm on January 9 to respond to the charge."

Swindon also look to have had a mixed day on the transfer front with goalkeeper Wes Foderingham signing on a permanent deal from Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old has impressed since going to the County Ground on loan in September, keeping nine clean sheets in 15 appearances.

However, Gillingham seem to have turned down a six-figure sum from the Wiltshire boys for winger Luke Rooney.

It seems here the Gills will get some dosh for the 21-year-old even though he's out of contract at the end of the season, and having turned down the offer of a new one, as he will still be under 24 meaning the club will be entitled to some sort of transfer fee.

In other news, Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson has been named the League Two manager of the month for December following the Bantams four-game unbeaten run.

The West Yorkshire club were unbeaten in their four games in December, enjoying wins over the promotion-chasing Shrimpers and Shrews, while also beating Crewe Alexandra and drawing with Plymouth Argyle.

Former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley chairs the manager of the month judging panel and was impressed with how Parkinson has turned Bradford's fortunes around, and are now seven clear points away from the bottom two of the fourth tier.

Curbishley told www.football-league.co.uk:"December's results have lifted Bradford out of the relegation battle and into mid-table. Among their three wins were excellent victories over high-flying Southend United and Shrewsbury Town. Phil is starting to get the best out his team."
