Dean Holdworth: In the hot seat like a shot
The 42-year-old former Wimbledon and Bolton striker Dean Holdsworth will leave his job as manager of Newport County to replace Kevin Dillon at the EBB Stadium.
He is set to finalise the terms of his contract with the Shots on Wednesday ahead of a press conference at 13.30.
Holdsworth leaves the Newport Stadium with the Welsh club in the Blue Square Conference Premier play-off places after guiding them to promotion from the Conference South last season with a record haul of 103 points, beating the previous mark set by, ironically, Aldershot, in 2007/08.
Shots top scorer Marvin Morgan joined League One struggles Dagenham & Redbridge last week after a public falling out with the club's fans, after he wished some of them would die; charming!
Southend United next play the Hampshire club at Roots Hall on Saturday, April 2nd, having lost 1-0 at the Rec a long, long time ago, where I believe Marvelous Marvin grabbed the winner late on.
Good decision?
