Crawley: Players could be sold

Carter at Crawley: 'If our revenues don't increase we will take tough decisions'

Crawley Town boss Steve Evans, who has guided his side to a 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions, has previously stated that he has identified several possible additions during the January transfer window to boost an already strong squad.

However, co-owner Carter is conscious of the financial restrictions in place and expressed her disappointment at the number of fans turning up to see the current npower League Two leaders, who are only 15th out of 24 clubs in the attendence table with an average of 3,099.

She told www.thisissussex.co.uk: "I would hate for us to have to sell a player for financial reasons, and we don't want to lose any of our best players as we are well placed in the league, but if the right price comes along I think every club is a selling club. At the moment we aren't hitting that so if fans want us to be able to retain our best players then they have to back us now. I think for a lot of fans this is an inconvenient truth but of course it will have a bearing on what we can do in the transfer window. We don't want to be in a position where we have to sell our best players but if our revenues don't increase we will take tough decisions."

A couple of Championship clubs have shown interest in top scorer Matt Tubbs with one, possibily Derby County or even Millwall, looking at offering up to a million!

Evans: Staying focused

Evans: getting involved, again!

Yes, the fat boy has continued on his quest to become the most popular manager in League Two; just behind, Di Canio.

Crewe's Steve Phillips has criticised Crawley boss Steve Evans for suggesting his Alex team-mate Adam Dugdale should have been sent off.

The Railwaymen were already down to 10 men on Saturday following Shaun Miller's dismissal for a lunge on Town's Sergio Torres when a disagreement between Phillips and Dugdale became a heated exchange as the pair squared up, although the veteran stopper strongly rebuffed Evans' claim that his defender punched him.

Keeper Phillips said: "That's ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. He ought to keep his nose out of other teams. We squared up but for him to say that is outrageous."

Alex assistant manager Neil Baker was not impressed by the incident and suggested both players will be facing internal action from the club.

Baker said: "I'm not going to try and cover for them because I think it was indefensible. Of course they have fall-outs, we all have fall-outs everyday and during games emotions are running high. We haven't spoken to the players yet but we will be. I'd like to think that they can sort it out between themselves. I'm sure they owe quite a few people an apology - particularly the supporters. We'll let them deal with it first before we deal with it."
